morris family vacation {pismo beach}

This family is so fun. They take a vacation together every summer, and I have been fortunate to photograph them at a few of these when they've come to California! Sarah, Justin and I have known each other since college, and it's so fun to see them and how much their kids grow and change.

I actually got up at 4am to drive to Pismo to do this shoot in the morning, and we had a gorgeous one. The sky was overcast, the sand was soft, and the gummies were plentiful! (Hey, it was early and there were 4 kids. Need I say more?)

abigail {one month new}

This sweet family goes to our church and they are hilarious, full of puns, kind and welcomed their first baby in June. I was honored to photograph her infant photos. Little Abby was full of personality and smiles already!

My favorite moment of the morning… So much love.

emme is one {encino birthday party}

I have LOVED following this little one's first year! Being my dear friend's daughter, I have photographed her often (even when not a session!), but this party was a blast. Poor girl was a little sick but so happy for her party and cake!

The polka dot/confetti theme was perfect for a first birthday! The bright colors combined with kraft paper table coverings were amazing.

Lunch from Stonefire Grill and a table full of sweets rounded out the party perfectly.

briana and patrick {paramount ranch holiday session}

I was so excited to photograph my dear friend's family for their Christmas cards! We did their session at Paramount ranch (a popular place this season) about an hour before sunset and had a great time. These two got married at Paramount in July of 2014, so this was a special spot for them to bring their baby girl for family photos.

elizabeth and spencer {engagement photo session at paramount ranch}

Elizabeth and Spencer have been dating since high school. I know her because she was one of the students who was with us in Heidelberg, and was so excited to do an engagement shoot for them! Paramount Ranch was the perfect spot (though some parts were off limits due to some sets for the show Bones that were left up over the weekend for filming Monday). I have so many favorites from the morning it was hard to narrow them down for the blog!

susan and jeff {holiday photo session}

I have been so happy to photograph this family since the days before they had kids, and have been even luckier to have known them since our college days! They now have two girls who are so sweet and fun. I loved meeting them for a session especially for their holiday cards.

This sweetie is wearing a dress that belonged to her mom…And this was the first frame I shot. She was on it.

The eyes on this one.

Happy holidays 2015!

ivey and ben {family}

We got to visit our old stomping grounds in North Carolina in August, and a dear friend and her family hosted us in their new home. To thank them for their generosity, I did a shoot of the family. Since they had just moved, we got a shot of the front of their home.

The boys were so fun to photograph and loved coming up with poses! It was a fun afternoon photographing these amazing people! :)

baby emme {six days new}

This sweet pea belongs to the friend whose baby shower I photographed and whose wedding was in. Baby Emme was only six days old when we did this sweet newborn session.

Beautiful books in her nursery!

This sweet baby girl's grandma made her some adorable headbands as well as this peachy-coral dress and the floral crib sheets! And later she gifted me a set of these headbands, so my future newborn clients can look just as stylish.

It was a blessing that some extended family was still in town and we got some photos with everyone. This is why I love photography: it provides tangible memories of those fuzzy days with a new baby, or the breakneck pace of a wedding day, or a moment in time when your kids were little (which goes by faster than imaginable when they are not sleeping through the night yet)...

From newlyweds to a family of three in a year.

Sweet dreams, little one.

Sweet dreams, little one.

laura and kyle {a wedding}

In the craziness that was last summer (a dear friend got married and I was honored to stand by her that day, then my gall bladder had to be removed...) I realized I never blogged Laura and Kyle's sweet wedding!

They got married on a beautiful June day last summer in San Jose. I got to photograph the bride getting ready and toasting with her mom, sister and friends.

I loved Laura's beautiful dress and purple petticoat as well as her shoe choice...comfortable and perfectly her.

Laura and Kyle elected not to see each other before the ceremony, so after it was done we walked over to the Friendship Gardens and got some photos of the newlyweds together.

Laura and Kyle brought photos of their parents' weddings...This is one of my all-time favorite shots.

I love how colors play together, but there is something so beautiful and emotional about black and white...Especially a wedding ceremony in black and white. Add to that personal details like the officiant being the bride's uncle and a special sake ceremony and you can feel the love and joy here.

After shots of the couple, the party started with dinner, dancing, sweet toasts and a lot of love.

I love how he looks at her.

Fun father-daughter dance!

Laura and Kyle, your wedding was such a treat to photograph! From all the personal details to your sweet promises to one another, it was a beautiful wedding and I wish you many years of happiness!

jake, sam and carter turn six {a birthday party}

These triplets turned six this year!

Their very creative mom (who was my boys' kindergarten teacher) planned a very fun Lego/sports party (it's hard to make three kids happy with one theme), complete with Lego building, Lego cookies and snacks, and some sports bag coloring. Some of my favorites from the fun day:

awaiting baby emme {baby shower}

My dear friend Briana got married to Patrick last summer and now they are expecting their first child (a girl!) this summer. To celebrate, some of her friends threw her a sweet, relaxed baby shower with lots of good food and conversation and adorable baby gifts, of course! The decor featured simple embroidery hoops with neutral fabrics.

Along the lines of a sewing theme, the favors for guests were small mason jars turned into pincushions with a sewing kit inside.

Since the shower was in the afternoon, we served coffee, tea, and sparkling sodas from Trader Joe's with light finger foods as well as cookies and cupcakes for dessert.

And of course, the gifts got many oohs and ahs! The grandma-to-be had been busy making treasures for her new granddaughter, including a sweet Japanese doll.

It was a beautiful, relaxed afternoon, perfect for this mom-to-be!
